Aims and Objectives

The Parish Council

Newtown parish council comprises five councillors who serve a four year term. Four to six meetings are held each year together with  an Annual meeting at which the Chairman, Vice Chairman and any committee members are elected.

The dates of meetings for the coming year are shown on the documents page. Agendas  are posted on the website at least three days before each meeting and the venue is Newtown Village hall. Minutes are posted on the website after approval at the following council meeting. The public are invited and welcome to attend all meetings.

Aims
To provide effective, efficient and accountable local government for the parish, enabling residents to be involved in decisions affecting the community and to be a strong voice for residents and local businesses.
To improve, preserve and regulate the use of Newtown common.

Objectives
To understand and communicate the views, needs and aspirations of residents and businesses to outside bodies.
To increase public involvement in the community through ensuring the parish council and its activities are open, transparent and accountable to residents.
